im suprised you went the hks route sam. its been getting slated recently about quality. i heard a story that the engine sucked in a load of foam from a hks intake.

i went hks after seeing a review showing the filteration/air flow review on the k&n, hks, and AEM intakes for the mx5 mk3 over on miata.net, the hks came 1st for filteration and 2nd for air flow following the AEM, and it cost less than the k&n and looks better to in my opinion, and unlike the AEM it doesnt sit behind the front grill so it cannot suck up water like some owners have mentioned with the AEM's so it has to be worth ago, i dont see how it can suck foam through though as behind the foam there is a black gauze that i would assume is to stop that, however only time will tell i guess....

cheers for that mindis, very interesting, its a worry that the standard air box set ups with a "high flow panel filter" lost power.
