This isn't fair, I was paying around £550 for the MPS last year, and now after a lot of shopping I'm pay £760 for the MX-5, how does that work going from group 17 to 13?!
I have a custom exhaust and filter, but even without it's only 100ish cheaper?!

I'm nearly 30 with 10 years no claims too, I take it Merseyside is thievin' central!?

But I will say that the last time my old man went to Liverpool he had a house brick put through his back window to try to steal his Lexus.  :-[

Well my first year is nearly up and I'm starting to get quotes through via email, though my current insurer won't have any figures for me until Monday. Very surprised that the price has actually gone down, I paid just over £300 last year which included £500 excess, personal cover, legal fees, windscreen cover and courtesy car, the cheapest quote with roughly the same amount of cover, but with an excess of £650, was £267, I'd also get £30 off if ordered online, this was from from AXA - So that's nearly £100 cheaper.

Something to bargain with on Monday.  ;D

Hi lads,

I just got a quote for myself (39) and girlfriend (37)...I've a full licence and 4 points for speeding...she has a provisional licence and had a fault accident in January (€1200 worth of damage to third party's car)...it's coming out at €970 euro!  I don't think that's actually too bad a price to be honest!  But it's a pipe dream anyway...I have my 1.6 facelift and I'm going to have to be happy with it!  As stated in a previous post, the tax for the MPS is prohibitive over here in Ireland...€2100 euro for the year!  :o

got my renewal offer in at £725, 8 years NCD, 30 years old

i think for last year it was £512 for my 2 litre and at the time of renewal for that i was told the biggest factor to the cost of my insurance was the engine size.... most other insurers i tried were qouting me £600-£800... anyhoo i changed car half way though for the MPS, and it was an extra £245 for the remaining 6 mths of the policy

i was also told when i was renewing for the year 2010, that whilst car crime in my area isn't great, the number of claims was relatively high, so its worth noting when we talk about insurance its not just about the obvious car crime that spring to mind, but also the vast range of accidents/incidents that will lead people to make a claim

still gonna make a few calls just to find out what other insurers will offer

Based on my experience last month the renewal prices are an absolute joke.  Never ever just blindly renew.

Check the guide here for getting good quotes on-line.

I'm insured through admiral mate, just renewed with them. They sent me a renewal of £1600  phoned them up and said is that the best you can do  and they knocked £300 off straight away. Also i pay my insurance all in one big lump, if i were to pay it monthly it was going to be around £2000. I'm also going to sell my MPS if you fancy one. PM me if you want some details.
