I think so.

They don't mention it in the spec, but on the base model they mention the remote central locking, I'd assume this includes the alarm.

I could be wrong though.

The down spec ment that no models have global closure or opening, the ts2 lost it's heated seats, the sport Lost the foot well lighting, and the 1.6 sport and 150 sport lost keyless start and entry, the steering wheels changed slightly too, there are a coupple of other things that I cannot remember off the top of my head!

I have recently bought a Sept 09 150 Sport which still has global closure/opening, heated seats, footwell lighting and keyless entry.  Mind you being a newbie I don't know when the down spec started?

AFAIK it's only the 1.6d and 1.6 petrol that suffered from the down spec...

What is global closure?

I think it's all 4 electric windows that will open or close by the remote key or by the drivers door controls. Mine do both(1.6L Takara)

How does that work?... what do you do to the button on the remote?

I'll be seriously pissed if Mazda took it off the 1.6 sport, b ut left it on every other... it's like they;re punishing you for having a smaller engine.

Just read the manual and it says that global opening closure is available, however, when you go to the section that explains how to use it, it appears that it's only available with the keyless entry system.

I have to admit, I'm really starting to get pissed off with the cost cutting on this 1.6 model. As global opening/closure was available on the old (standard entry) model, I'd expect it to be on the new one.

It's a guess, but this is what I think happened..... Mazda initially intended to release all (sport) models with keyless entry, then changed their mind and f**ked all the 1.6 owners over, but couldn't be bothered to re-engineer the software to offer (global opening et al) on the standard entry sytstem models, so just did half a job.

It's little features like global opening that make you fall in love with a car and given the relatively poor economy, this car really needs to excel in every other area.

At this moment in time I feel like Mazda are treating everyone who buys the 1.6 sport as second rate customers.

It's good that the costcutting hasn't went into safety areas, but at the same time, a simple software update would not have broke the bank.

On the upside, I figured out where you are meant to hang the fuel cap eysterday night... this was confirmed this morning when I read the manual  ;D

Picked up my 2010 60 reg MPS 5 weeks ago and most upset that certain things were not on the car as I thought. No global opening/closing of windows, no auto opening of windows other than drivers and I wanted the 'beep' sound enabling when locking and unlocking the doors but dealer said this feature was not available either! even though its says in the handbook that all these features are available. The most top spec Mazda 3 you would have thought had all the features of the handbook but apparently not! A bit of devious costcutting on the side I feel. Other than that car is brilliant and a real eyeopener in the power/acceleration stakes.

That's seriously s**t, mate

I'm annoyed that I don't get global closure and all round auto windows on my 1.6... a;; pf this is surely just a simple change in wiring, couldn't have even saved that much.

The beep on the alarm is the bane of my life on sunny days, it can be hard to see the indicators and I  lose the cool factor of walking 10 metres away from the car and doing the remote central locking beep beep shuffle.

Seriously though, audible affirmation that the car is locked would be much more useful
