Good little fun cars mate, we had one and you are right, the handling superb.

If you are looking at second hand ones, check the roof seals where it touches the door glass, thats where you get leaks.

I've never been a fan of the mx5 cos its always looked a bit girly, but I must admit this latest model is quite appealing.

As good as the MX is, if you do get the go ahead... then I'd also test drive a Honda S2000. They are different takes on the classic sports car. When the Honda hits v-tec it really kicks hard.

I do like the new one. Always thought they were a bit under powered though. I know they handle well and thats the fun but I would like some straight line oomph too...

Turbo kit anyone?!?!?!?  ;D :D ;)

It's not me who's thinking of buying it, however if I was in the market for a 2 seater I would definately go for the S2000  ;)

I would go for the MX-5 if in the market at present.

The MX-5 is more economical, and handles better, and the S2000 is group 20 insurance, drinks fuel (it does, contrary to the advertised figures cos my ex's mum has one and drives it as economically as one can), and costs an arm and a leg to service.

Plus boot space in the MX-5 is sufficient for two people to go away on holiday in for a week or so, whereas the S2000 is (surprisingly) not.

And, if money were no option, and I could afford to insure a group 20 car, then I would not be buying a Honda... something more German would be heading my way!

I'm with you on Honda servicing... they make VW look cheap! The only consolation is that a S2000 is a Honda car in the true sense, it won't go wrong. Oh and the gear shift puts other cars to shame... perfect pedal layout for heel and toe.
