Found it via the american forum, was soo glad to.  Even investigated setting up my own forum!!  Must admit I was searching incorrectly though - using "mazda 3 owners club" as my search string.  Might be worth adding this to the meta data of the forum though......

Found it through Google after about a year of searching! Being on the US Mazda forum is not so good as they all have 2.0/2.3 and have never really heard of them having 1.6's!
