MPS.. Self leveling headlights or not???
« on: April 13, 2007, 12:58:21 PM »
Yesterday i went to see the MPS at Waters Mazda, they kindly let me see the engine bay too...

however on the headlights i noticed that the levelling motors on the headlight are the same as the ones that can be found on the lower spec trims which have manual levelling.

can someone confirm that the MPS actually has the automatic levelling feature and if you have experienced it in action??  ??? ???

What's it for? Going up hills? Over speed humps? I've never noticed. But will check if I can make them do it! ;D

As far as I understand it they automatically sense the level of the car with reference to weight distribution and alter the angle of the headlights to give the maximum road coverage. One way to confirm if you have them is to have the headlight switch set to automatic, then park opposite a wall or garage door. When it's dark turn on the igniton to start the car and you will notice the light beams dip down in a slow decending movement and then rise again to the correct level.

Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.

Not on cars fitted with automatics.
