No sound from Bose unit.
« on: September 25, 2017, 09:35:21 PM »
I have a 59 plate 2.0 Sport Nav with the Bose sound system. This morning I got in the car to go to work as usual, pressed the on button for the sound system on the dash and no beep sounded like it normally does. That got my attention....but then there was also no sound whatsoever coming out of the system despite the CD rotating normally in the 6 CD changer with the display showing tracks playing. I've had no issues with the Bose unit at all until now (it was playing fine last time I drove the car Saturday evening) but would anyone know if this is a likely indicator of an amp failure or something much less horrific like a fuse blown? Just to add, the Sat Nav voice ain't working either so I guess that feeds through the amp too

I rang the Mazda dealership in Bolton today and they charge £80 just for a diags check. Is it worth biting the bullet and paying this or is there a cheaper way of checking?

Any advice would be appreciated. Ta

Turns out the amp has failed. £1000 for a replacement at Mazda. :-(

You could get a full audio system professionally fitted for less than that.

There are companies that specialise in repairing bose amps for cars - http://boserepairexperts.eu/product/mazda-bose-amplifier-repair-service-mazda-3-mazda-6-amp-gs1e-66-a20/

Might be worth a look?

I've gone for a second hand one off eBay now for £250 that was salvaged from a written off 2009 Gen 2 Sport.

I know there's a repair place in Edinburgh that fixes these things but the above seemed a quicker option to sort it. Can't believe the cost of a dealership replacement!! How the hell do they justify it, can't be the parts cost surely?
