Fantastic DIY Paint touch - up job
« on: April 11, 2016, 05:50:38 PM »
Well - It happened in Local Super Market, somebody pushed their trolley into my passenger side wing and left a nasty 2" scratch in the wing!!

Got Quote from my local Mazda dealer --wait for it "Nearly £500"! Tried one of the chip & scratch services they wanted picture and then quoted £250+ vat.

So went online looked up kit for my car Zeal Red code 41G from this supplier:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=322057077984 costs £8.50 simply did as it says on the pack and the finished job is absolutely fantastic, you can't see any trace of the original damage.
So give it a try if unfortunate to get scratched like me!!

I'm confused!. If the colour is Soul Red (41V) as in the profile why did you buy Zeal Red (41G)?

I'm genuinely sorry if my attempt at some humour offended you. It was not intended as a criticism.  Please note all the smilies that were included.

Really would be good to see photos if you work out how to get them linked up onto the forum. Did they just scratch the paint; not leave a dent in the metal? Some of the buggers that did my last car with trolley I swear took a run up to it with the trolley with a whole month's shopping in it.

Touch shiny smooth metal (wood) my new car's 8 months in an still without a scratch. May have something to do with these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Door-Defender-NI-627843040002-Protection/dp/B00F2ECLV0  O0 They've definitely saved me in the parking the car's left in during the week but I still know it's just a matter of time...

I've picked up my first scratch, thanks to two tractors spreading the remnants of the farm track they came out of onto the main road, where they floored it and cleared their tyres all over my nearly new car.
Anyhow, I went looking for paint, and fortunately, didn't come here first!
Same Mazda touch up paint kit from Arnold Clark/AutopartsUK for £4.40.  An alternative is http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/genuine-mazda-touch-paint-mk4-p-3722.html who'll deliver the same for just under £6.
Compared with the rip off merchants on ebay - currently around £14 - either of the above are bargains.

Is this the first time something for a Mazda has been cheaper from a dealer?
