Public Service announcement
« on: February 20, 2016, 04:58:51 PM »
If you are thinking of buying a Citroen...like now or are possibly in the future let me save you a lot of trouble. Just don't, they make some nice looking cars, they have lots of showroom appeal, they come in funky colours.

However they are made badly out of the lowest possible grade of materials and the dealers couldn't find their own backside with both hands...

We have 2 cars one is 5 and has done nearly 50k one is 1 and has done 7k..which one spent a week in garage due to rusty wheels as the dealer is a berk? Which one has lamp clusters filled with water? Which one has tarnished chrome and rust on the passenger door? That'll be the year old French POS..

       You're welcome

Start a user reviews of cars other than Mazda 3s section, I can provide several pages of expletives along with "Citroen DS3" and possibly "don't"

No, French cars are brilliant.  Our ones had great features, like...

'Safety' front springs which only break on your driveway or work car park - much safer than out on the road!
Automatic monthly cleaning out of the centre console so you can fix the handbrake cable when it jumps off cos the caliper ratchet mechanism jumped again.
Automatic monthly checking of one rear tyre and wheel while freeing off the handbrake mechanism with wd40.
Automatic monthly checking of the jack and whereabouts of the locking wheel nut while removing a rear wheel.
Stereos which automatically skip that song you don't like, but give you a different selection tomorrow.
Stereos which sometimes force you to listen to the radio to keep abreast of the news.
Random engine management light and limp mode - excellent for discouraging overtaking.
Known budget for servicing.  The 'papier mache' rear suspension bushes will need done again every 30k or 5 years (whichever comes soonest).
Assurance that your rear wheel bearings won't need replaced seperately since they are part of the brake disc so they never get a chance to wear out.  Who cares about cost anyway?
Automatic exercise and posture assistance when you need to lean over to the passenger switch to put the window back up.
Brain stimulation when thinking "do I really need that window down?", followed by "but it's raining, what if it doesn't go back up today?".
Brain stimulation when thinking "what was the other thing the dash used to say below the clock?", followed by "I'll find out tomorrow when it works again".
Tyre pressure monitoring system under the car where all the crap hits.  We've all gotten so reliant on them it's reassuring to see it flash for a while so we know it still does something.

There's probably lots more great things I've forgotten, but it just shows how far ahead of the competition they are!

Was the weld repair, part of the servicing schedule ?     Or does Citroen think it is required for enhanced customer satisfaction ?

That's shocking. Time to get rid I'd say.

Thankfully it's a lease, so when it does this I just laugh (this confused the woman in the service department somewhat) and due to the machinations of NHS fleet Volkswagen has to pick up the bill which is a bonus.

We have it for 1 more year it'll be interesting to see what else breaks. Being of the foruming persuasion I'm also on the ds3 owners club. I'm very popular there as the car has its own thread similar to my 3s thread except it's just a catalogue of disaster..I hope prospective owners read it and run a mile.

Amusingly there was a actually a current 3 owner turned up who was thinking of swapping it for a DS3 and although I did answer the questions posed my reply also included the words "I wouldn't swap a 3 for it in a 1000 years"..

Now because I apparently I like to punch myself in the face repeatedly...

The Citroen has gone...to be replaced by

Well I suppose we need to balance out the reliability of the 3..

Tbf...I still wouldn't recommend anyone ever buys one..

But at least this one is a nice place to sit, the 1.6d DS3 felt like it had done 100000 miles with 25 miles on the clock. This one actually feels like a new car, imagine that! Most of the stuff that annoyed me on the DS3 isn't present, it's a 110 turbo petrol and isn't sprung on blocks of pig iron for a start. There's no chrome on the sides to tarnish,  the wheel centres have plastic covers , which is where the wheels rusted on the pld one.

If anything I want to like it, its quite charming in a decidedly french way while the DS3 I disliked from the 1st time I drove it.

I bought a ******ron C5 Executive second hand (3 years old). In three months I had to replace 6 different bulbs.

I sold it after 3 months and bought my 3

By contrast my Mazda323 is now15 years old and covered 120k miles. Two bulbs have been replaced
correction 3. Two number plate, and one side light

When it's wired with this much care how can you ever suggest the electrics might be a bit crap?
