Paint bubbles on rim
« on: December 02, 2012, 08:16:30 PM »
Hey People,

Today I noticed some paint bubbling on my alloy rims. On one of them is almost an inch long in a funky shape. I have it on 3 out of 4 wheels. I ve got two small curb marks on them but the bubbling isn't even close the curb mark.

Anyone noticed anything like this on their mk2? I had to look pretty close to find it.

Is this covered under warranty?

Thanks

Yep. But only on the 'spoke' of one wheel (front standard 16"), and only the size of a 5p coin.

My car is 3 years old in September 2013, so I will keep an eye on this, and make sure I get it to the dealer in time for some action before the warranty runs out.

all Mazda wheels do it. really coman. is your car still under warranty?

edit, going by your posts it is.

well there you go 2 birds with one stone . get a new set of wheels for because of the bubbling and that cures you buckled wheel problem aswell.

That is the plan mate. I am taking it to Austria in Dec on those "salty" roads so I wait until Jan. My only problem is I only found bubbles on 2 rims only....Will they sort me out with a new set?

I have had 3 sets of wheels within the warranty period. Almost everyone has experienced the same problems.

Spoke to Mazda is going in for an inspection tomorrow. They will put it on the ramp to look for rust on all rims. Hopefully they will find something on the front too as according to them Mazda only replaces the ones which do have rust on them. So fingers crossed.

Is Mazda quick when it comes to investigation? I would need those wheels next week. I don't know if that would work. I am hoping they will find some rust on the inner edge. On that side the paint and everything seems so much thinner...The Aftersales manager said if he can only get me two wheels he will look at the other 2 before my warranty runs out to source me 2 new ones.
